The Leaf AFi is the first medium-format digital camera system for professional photographers, based on a new camera unit, designed by Jenoptik.
Herzlia, Israel - (November 2, 2006) – Leaf, part of Kodak’s Graphics Communication Group, designer, manufacturer and marketer of digital backs for professional photographers, and Jenoptik Group, announce today the signing of a long-term agreement to produce and supply a medium-format camera, designed by Jenoptik, for the Leaf AFi: a medium-format digital camera solution aimed at professional photographers.
A prototype of the Leaf AFi was previewed at Photokina in September 2006 and attracted a great deal of attention from professional photographers. The Leaf AFi addresses the specific demands of high-resolution digital shooting and will seamlessly integrate with the new Leaf Aptus S-Series digital camera backs. The Leaf AFi product line will include three models: Leaf AFi -75; Leaf AFi -65 and Leaf AFi -54.
Leaf solutions are based on the premise that a professional digital camera should operate intuitively, becoming an extension of the photographer's hands, while supporting maximum creative freedom and technical excellence. With this in mind, the new Leaf camera ideally matches the needs of professional photographers who require the combination of quality, speed and control, integrated into a simple to use and robust system. The Leaf AFi provides professional photographers with a 6 x 6 medium-format digital camera solution in a compact 6 x 4.5 design. The innovative design ensures that the Leaf AFi is flexible, easily adaptable, and fully compatible with the Leaf digital back technology.
Dov Kalinski, General Manager of Leaf comments: “We are pleased to have signed this agreement with Jenoptik, a leader in its field. The new Leaf AFi medium-format camera has been designed with the very best components available, and features an extraordinary integration of top-of-the-line components, including high quality auto-focus digital Schneider- Kreuznach lenses that are specifically designed for professional photographers and a new and advanced Leaf digital camera back.”
Henry Birner, President of Jenoptik Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH, says:”We are pleased to announce that Leaf, part of Kodak’s Graphics Communication Group, is the first major client of our new, fastest autofocus medium-format camera.
