Everyone in the stock photography industry sort of knew Getty Images might go on the auction block. After dealing unsuccessfully with a receding stock price for nine quarters, The company's leadership had to be looking at this alternative.
But it still seemed as if many industry veterans were caught by surprise when the news came out Monday. It always is hard to accept the possibility of sudden change.
To get an idea about what people are thinking, The Stock Asylum contacted a number of stock photo industry veterans and asked them for comments about what sale might mean to the industry.
