The answer is Stock Index Online, a new site launched by the publishers of the Stock Index sourcebooks, which have been distributed in Europe and North America for 27 years.
The stock photography sourcebooks have always been a popular with small, specialty distributors that sometimes have trouble attracting attention in an industry dominated by much larger companies.
Stock Index Online could eventually help these companies achieve additional exposure through a low-cost service that aggregates thumbnails from many of the online collections in one place.
Because many image buyers prefer to search one large collection rather than many small ones, the company's executives believe this approach will benefit all the participating distributors. Image buyers purchase licenses directly from the distributor.
